"Think of it as core strength training," said Jill Dennis, lead development engineer. "The new Equinox‘s structure is leaner yet stronger, resulting in efficient performance that inspires confidence while also creating a more fun, safe and comfortable driving experience." An all-new, mass-efficient body structure is at the center of the Equinox‘s trimmer curb weight and helps make the most of the available turbo engine options. The 1.5L turbo engine offers a great balance of fuel efficiency and performance. For those looking for more power, the 2.0L turbo engine offers 252 horsepower (188 kW) and can click off 0-to-60-mph sprints in an estimated 7.2 seconds. That’s the quickest among Equinox’s three engine choices. The 1.5L turbo engine option is available in dealers now, while the 2.0L turbo engine option hits dealer lots later this month.
The Chevrolet Cruze Hatch has the same, class-leading 106.3-inch (2,700 mm) wheelbase as sedan models, but features a unique roof and rear-end structure - including wraparound taillamps and an integrated spoiler at the hsatop of the liftgate. It opens to offer 18.5 cubic feet (524 liters) of cargo space behind the rear seat. With the rear seat folded, cargo space expands to 42 cubic feet (1,189 liters). An all-new, more rigid and lighter architecture is the Chevrolet Cruze foundation for driving dynamism, while also playing a significant role in safety and efficiency. It is more than 200 pounds (91 kg) lighter than the previous-generation model due largely to a body structure that is 100 pounds lighter and an engine that 44 pounds (20 kg) lighter. The Chevy Cruze lineup in North America is offered in L, LS, LT and Premier - and a more expressive RS package, featuring unique front and rear fascias, rocker panels, rear spoiler, fog lamps and - on the Premier model - 18-inch wheels. Chevrolet introduced the all-new 2016 Malibu - a completely restyled midsize sedan engineered to offer more efficiency, connectivity and advanced safety features than ever. An all-new hybrid powertrain, which leverages technology from the Chevrolet Volt, will offer an estimated combined fuel economy rating exceeding 45 mpg. The Malibu standard 1.5L turbo powertrain is projected to offer 37 mpg highway.
The entry model may be well equipped but there’s a lot more to come as we move up the range. LT models come with just the 150PS diesel engine and are fitted as standard with 17" alloy wheels, levelling suspension, half leather trim, heated windscreen and ESP, the electronic stability control programme. Practicality is not overlooked on the LT either with a load restraining net, front passenger underseat stowage and a facia deposit box for coins or maps - there even a cooled glove box to stop your chocolate bars melting in summer. LT models come with side airbags as standard. Level ride rear suspension ensures that the vehicle maintains good road manners even with a full load and automatic transmission is available as an option with the diesel engine (seven seat models only), not always the norm in this sector. The LT is available as a specific derivative with either five or seven seats. With the seven-seat model comes a cargo net (in lieu of the five-seat load restraining net) and rear park sensors. At the top of the range comes the flagship Captiva LT Special Model. This really is the has it all Captiva and here are some examples: 18" alloy wheels, full leather trim, 8-way power driver seat, 6 CD autochanger, air quality system with full climate control, cruise control and a trip computer. The full specification for all Captiva models is listed later. SUVs have a practical job to do for the family but also offer a feeling of greater security when driving that is particularly appreciated by women. The command driving position ensures a great all-round view and controls are light and convenient. There is plenty of space inside Captiva for five adults in great comfort. The third row of seats (available in the LT model) will accommodate two teenagers in comfort and even adults for shorter journeys. The easy-fold feature on the third row and fold-flat capability for both second and third rows is impressive and the large hydraulically assisted tailgate with wide aperture makes the big boot area easy to load (for light shopping, the remote control operated tailgate glass is a real boon, opening without the need to unlock the rest of the vehicle).
"The driving experience is significantly different," said Aaron Link, lead development engineer. "Immediately, you will notice how much lighter and more nimble the Camaro feels. That feeling increases when you drive the Camaro harder - it brakes more powerfully, dives into corners quicker, and accelerates faster than ever." The Camaro features a new, multi-link MacPherson strut front suspension with Camaro-specific geometry. The double-pivot design provides a more precise feeling of control, including more linear and communicative feel from the quick-ratio electric power steering system. At the rear, a new five-link independent suspension yields outstanding wheel control and reduces "squat" during acceleration. In addition, the Magnetic Ride Control is available on the Camaro SS for the first time. Previously limited to the Camaro ZL1, the active suspension reads road and driving conditions 1,000 times per second, and automatically adjusts the damper settings to optimize ride comfort and control. All Camaro models offer Brembo brakes - they‘re standard on SS - optimized for the car‘s mass and performance capability. On Camaro LT, the available brakes include 12.6-inch (320 mm) front rotors with four-piston calipers and 12.4-inch (315 mm) rear rotors with single-piston sliding calipers. Camaro SS employs 13.6-inch (345 mm) front rotors with four-piston fixed calipers and 13.3-inch (338 mm) rear rotors with four-piston fixed calipers.
