The 2017 Acadia builds on a legacy of intuitive functionality, with new features such as a split-folding second-row seat that improves on the original Smart Slide feature of the current model. It offers greater flexibility, including the capability of the curbside seat sliding and tilting forward, even with a forward-facing child seat in place, while the driver-side section tips and slides forward for easier access to the third row. The 50/50-split third-row seat folds flat for a completely flat load floor behind the second row and when the second row is also folded, there 79 cubic feet (2,237 liters) of cargo room. Levers at the rear of the vehicle make it easier to fold the second- and third-row seats.
The 2018 GMC Terrain goes on sale in summer 2017 in SL, SLE, SLT and Denali models, maintaining the momentum created by the first-generation model, of which more than 700,000 have been sold in North America since it went on sale in 2009. The new GMC Terrains bold exterior signals the next chapter of GMCs design language, evolving the brands signature cues with stronger, sharper and more sculpted elements such as the grille and lighting features. Its shape was refined in the wind tunnel to help ensure the distinctive profile cuts through the air with optimal efficiency and quietness. "It is a striking design with functional beauty," said Helen Emsley, executive director, Global GMC Design. "Theres confidence and optimism in its stance, with exceptional attention to detail that speaks to GMCs rise as a premium brand."
The new GMC Acadia offers a greater emphasis on refinement, while remaining instantly recognizable with an evolution of the vehicle signature, professional grade design cues such as a chrome-trimmed grille, squared off and flared wheel arches and wraparound rear side windows with dark D-pillars. "It a confident design influenced by extensive customer input," said Helen Emsley, executive director, Global GMC Design and User Experience. "The original Acadia was very truck-inspired, but the new model has a decidedly SUV influence conveyed in sculptural details, softened corners and a sleeker windshield angle."
Inside, a Jet Black interior features Mulan leather-appointed seats with perforated, heated-and-ventilated front seats - exclusive content in the Canyon lineup - along with unique instrument panel and console trim; and Denali-logo sill plates and floor mats. The Canyon Denali is offered on crew cab models and in two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive configurations. Powertrains include a standard 3.6L V-6 that tops competitors V-6 offerings with up to 7,000 pounds (3,175 kg) of maximum trailering and an Environmental Protection Agency-estimated 26 mpg highway on 2WD models.
