The B-cycle combustion process with central direct injection represents a new level of efficiency within the RS family. In the NEDC, the V6 bi-turbo consumes just 8.7 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (27.0 US mpg), which corresponds to 197 grams of CO2 per kilometer (317.0 g/mi). This is an efficiency gain of 17 percent over the previous model. Also beneficial for the new Audi RS5 Coupe is a drastic reduction in weight. The vehicle weighs in at 1,655 kilograms (3,648.7 lb) - 60 kilograms (132.3 lb) less than previously. A carbon roof with visible fiber structure is also available as an option.

The functionality of the standard charging cable supplied with the new BMW i3s has been optimised and includes a temperature sensor. Charging at home is extremely user-friendly thanks to the BMW i Wallbox which, in its most recent incarnation, can supply 11 kW of power to charge the high-voltage battery. This allows enough energy for an electric range of around 180 kilometres (112 miles) to be transferred in under three hours - five times quicker than with the standard charging cable. The new BMW i Wallbox Connect also extends the functionality of the globally unique Digital Charging Service to provide intelligent charging for optimal cost efficiency, and allows customers to make best use of self-generated solar energy. In addition, it is also possible to control the charging process using a smartphone app and manage usage by means of an access card. Drivers with a registered ChargeNow card have unrestricted access to the world’s largest network of public charging stations.

A carbon roof with visible fiber structure is also available as an option, delivering a further weight saving of 3 kilograms (6.6 lb).

These aspects have been neutralized by Audi thanks to the implementation of turbocharging and the two-stage Audi valvelift system (AVS). The four camshafts of the 2.9 TFSI can each be adjusted by 50 degrees crank angle. At higher load and engine speed ranges, AVS closes the inlet valve later. The opening time increases from 130 to 200 degrees crankshaft angle, while at the same time the valve lift increases from 6.0 to 10.0 millimeters (0.2 to 0.4 in). Cylinder charging also increases considerably - the 2.9 TFSI revs up powerfully and delivers an impressive output.

The bi-turbo‘s power flows through a sportily-tuned, eight-speed tiptronic transmission with optimized shift times and on to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive which features a self-locking central differential. The drive forces are asymmetrically distributed between the axles in the ratio of 40:60. Dynamic handling with optimum traction and the best-possible levels of safety are thus guaranteed. Audi Sport also offers an optional rear sport differential.

On the same combined NEDC cycle, the new BMW i3s with range extender consumes 12.5 kWh of electric power per 100 kilometres and 0.7 litres of fuel (fuel consumption of 403.5 mpg imp; CO2 emissions: 14 g/km). The driver assistance systems available for the new BMW i3 and BMW i3s ease the driver‘s workload and provide support in various traffic situations, as well as helping with longitudinal and lateral vehicle control. The optional Parking Assistance package includes Park Distance Control, a reversing camera and the Parking Assistant. Once a suitable parking space parallel to the road has been selected, the Parking Assistant takes control of acceleration, braking, gear selection and steering.

The latest M Performance model, the BMW X3 M40i comes with a 3.0-liter M Performance TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder inline gasoline engine. The intake manifold integrated indirect charge air intercooler allows for a lower charge air volume between the compressor and intake valves, noticeably improving engine response. This translates to shorter air routing, faster boost pressure build-up, and throttle response. Both engines come from the latest generation of BMW engines. Improvements have also been made to both the 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission with shift paddles and the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system to increase efficiency.
